🚗 Occident · Vehicle Insurance

From your first car in Spain
to the right cover for you.

Third party, extended or fully comprehensive, I explain every option clearly, whether your driving licence is already exchanged or still in process.

Just bought a car, exchanging your licence, or looking to switch insurer.

In Spain, third party insurance is compulsory by law to drive. But choosing the right level of cover, third party, extended or fully comprehensive, depends on the car's value, your driver profile and your situation. I explain every detail in the consultation.

01I've just bought my first car in Spain and need insurance
02I'm exchanging my foreign driving licence and want to get the insurance ready
03My current insurer isn't working for me, I want to compare options
04I've had an accident and want to understand how the process works
05I have a motorbike, scooter or other vehicle that needs cover

Three options. A clear explanation of each.

Required by law
Third Party
Covers damage caused to other people and vehicles. The legal minimum required to drive in Spain.
  • Bodily injury to third parties
  • Property damage to third parties
  • Legal defence
More protection
Extended Third Party
Everything in third party, plus specific coverage for your own vehicle in certain situations.
  • Fire and theft of vehicle
  • Windscreen and glass
  • Roadside assistance
  • Natural events
Full coverage
Fully Comprehensive
Maximum protection, including damage to your own vehicle, even in accidents where you're at fault.
  • Own damage (with or without excess)
  • At-fault accidents
  • Theft and total loss
  • Extended covers included

Questions I get asked most.

Does my home country insurance work in Spain?
No. Insurance taken out in another country has no validity in Spain. To drive legally, you need a Spanish policy taken out locally. It's compulsory by law from day one.
Can I take out insurance before I have a Spanish driving licence?
Yes. You can take out insurance with your foreign driving licence while the exchange process is ongoing, as long as your foreign licence is still valid. In the consultation we verify your exact situation.
I had an accident that was my fault, what happens to my insurance?
If you have fully comprehensive cover, damage to your vehicle is covered (with or without excess, depending on the policy). With third party, only damage to the other party is covered. I explain every scenario calmly in the consultation.
